I'll explain our strategy, and the other guys can chime in too since everyone has their own perspective.
- Communication is key. If you don't have a mic, its going to be impossible to do it. Every single pretorian was called out, even if it didn't pose any trouble. Every time someone was close to dying from damage, they would call out for help and other members would run to help. All oracles were called out when they were destroyed. During the final boss, we called out if there were any suplicants still left, or close to the portals so everyone was aware to be careful. Basically call out anything you think needs to be called out.
- We split up into 3 teams of 2 and we stuck with those teams through out except for at the end.
- in the first section, 1 team would stick to the left, 1 on the right and 1 in the middle. The middle team could overlook the left and right side, so they helped out the left and right teams. Once the conflux is built, we all headed into the vault.
- in the Templar area, we split into 3 teams, again sticking with your partner. One group on the left set of stairs, one group on the right set of stairs, and one group in the middle. The middle and left side see the most action. The right side is pretty quiet so when its quiet, one person on the right can peer over the edge and help take out the enemies below so its not as crazy. This should be the strategy for the 3 sections of conflux building.
- During the oracle part, everyone has to pick a few oracles that they're going to cover. The oracles spawn in the exact same order every time so you could essentially map out which oracles spawn where and when and destroy them. We didn't do this, but it could be done that way. Our way, we just watched our spawns and called out minotaurs if we were in trouble. Also key to kill the snipers whenever there is any spare time. Basically always be moving. If you stand still, you're going to get killed by the snipers.
- During the sneaking part, assign 1 person to be the leader. That leader is going to control everything. He's going to make sure when its clear to go. No one else should be giving direction, everyone should be following his lead. Don't run, don't double jump, don't float. You want to be as quiet as possible. The leader wants to make sure everything is clear and lead everyone to the ramp. Everyone should go in a line up the ramp and stay up there. The leader will survey the area making sure its clear to go, and on his word, everyone will jump down and get to the exit.
- The jumping part is going to be the hardest part for most people. I know it was for us. There are 2 strategies here.
1. Since most of us were warlocks, we could float to the bottom ledge. At the start we would head to the right. Jump down to the first ledge, then jump down to the second ledge. On this ledge there is a higher section and a lower section. stand on the lower section. You are going to use the edge of the higher section as a guide as to where to aim. You'll want to run, jump and float for a second, then drop, then float for a second, then drop and when you are pretty close to the platform, you want to float again and get to it. Make sure you don't float to early or else you will die from impact. Also, try not to hit the dirt because it will bump you off the ledge.
2. You can jump on the moving platforms. I personally didn't do it this way, but a couple of our guys did it this way, so they may need to clarify. Also, it will have to be the way if you're not a warlock. Jump for the 1st ledge, then to the 2nd moving ledge. From here you'll want to triple jump down to the platform, just like I described in method 1.
- The Templar part is where the other guys will need to chime in. We split into 2 teams. 1 team was designated as team teleport, and team 2 held the portals. During the first section, kill all of the enemies and when the enemies are thinned out, kill the boss in the middle. Open the 1st teleport on the left side of where you enter (Past Portal). While team teleport enters, team portal kills all the enemies on the outside, defending the pillar that opens the portal. Once team teleport is out, they let us know. 1 person from team teleport and 1 person from team portal run to the middle to defend the conflux. Make sure those people know who they are. the remaining team portal run to the right pillar (Future Portal) and open it for the remaining team teleport (which should consist of the relic holder). Team teleport again will let team portal know when they are out, and as soon as they are out, everyone runs to the middle to kill all the enemies coming out of the portals.
- Once the conflux disappears, team teleport runs to the very back (where you enter the area) making sure they don't die by the boss. Team portal stays closer to the boss, but hiding so that they too don't get killed by the boss. The reason team teleport wants to stay as far away from the boss as possible is because the boss always teleports the 3 farthest players.
From the view of Team Portal
Once they are teleported, they will call out whether they are in the past or future. 2 of team portal should run to that portal, while 1 member of team portal stays in their same position throughout the fight. Our guy stood on a pillar above the Past Portal. This would provide a good line of sight to take out most of the supplicants. The 2 other team portal will get to the pillar, jump on top of it so that you are away from the supplicants and then focus on the supplicants to make sure they don't pose a threat to team portal once they get out. To be safe, only team teleport was shooting the boss, while team portal was killing all the enemies making sure they never got to team teleport.
I can't speak from the view of Team Teleport so one of our guys will have to fill in that part. But that was our strategy in depth. If theres any questions, just ask them and I'm sure one of us will answer it.
There's really no tips to be honest. We have just played together in the raid since the raid came out.
We split into groups of 2 for the Templar section. We did it so much that we wouldn't even be talking about the raid while we were doing it. All it takes is to keep doing it over and over again until it's flawless.. We took a different approach on the end boss, we don't use the shield from relic and jump to middle. The portal team goes in , 2 guys throw void special down stairs and guy with relic goes down to clean up any stragglers while other 2 slowing move forward taking out the oracles and taking the last oracle out right before going back through portal so the vengeance timer starts right when we get out giving us the full 30 seconds. We don't jump to middle platform due to it being too risky. We all run to back wall and the relic guy cleanses us and we start shooting the boss for about 25 seconds. We kill the boss in no more than 4 portal runs so using the shield method in the middle is not only more risky but it's not gonna speed it up either. 3 guys on outside gotta be on their A game taking out all supplicants so when we come back through the portal we don't get kaboomed. The guys on the outside really don't even risk shooting Atheon unless they are absolutely sure there are no more supplicants posing a threat. The main tip in all of this is to keep trying and keep playing with the same group. You will not get this with a thrown together team of level 30s. It's all about teamwork, call out every minotaur no matter where on the map it is or which side it's on and don't have a hero on your team. If someone knows it all and doesn't wanna listen or communicate get rid of them for someone else, they will only hinder the team. You gotta trust every teammate is doing their part and do your own part. As soon as you think you gotta do more you end up screwing up and the team pays the price.
It has to be done in one run. You can't go to orbit at all, even if someone hasn't died. We tried every method to try and get the trophy. We tried backing out right before someone died and then entering back in, that didn't work. We tried bringing in someone that was new right at the end, that didn't work. The only thing that works is playing it from beginning to end, in one run, without dying. 1 run takes about 45-60 minutes.
You can restart the raid as many times as you want. It gives you the option to start from check point or to restart. Since Friday, we've probably run the raid 40 times, possibly more.
